The Therapy Journey:
What to Expect

01

Intake Paperwork

Before our first meeting, you will receive a link to a secure portal to complete necessary intake forms. This process allows us to focus entirely on you and your needs from the moment our session begins.

03

Ongoing Work

Follow-up sessions provide a dedicated time for you to process emotions and develop practical coping strategies. We work at your pace, ensuring you feel supported and heard every step of the way.

02

First Therapy Session

In our initial 50-minute session, we will explore your history and current challenges in a warm, non-judgmental space. Together, we will define clear, meaningful goals for your healing and growth as a mother.

04

Building Momentum

To build momentum and see lasting change, I typically recommend weekly sessions initially. However, we can adjust the frequency as you progress and feel more regulated and empowered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please feel free to call my office at (858) 899-1432 or send an email to therapy@tbogy.org. When you reach out, kindly include your contact information (phone number and the best times to call). I schedule all first-time appointments over the phone to answer any questions you might have about counseling and to ensure that I can provide the services you need at this time.

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

Paying out of pocket for psychotherapy offers greater privacy, flexibility, and control over your treatment. It allows you to choose the therapist and approach that best fit your needs without restrictions from insurance on session length, frequency, or type of therapy. It also eliminates the need for a formal diagnosis on your medical record, ensuring enhanced confidentiality and a more personalized and seamless therapy experience.

I am available for appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. As a solo practitioner in private practice, I am unable to offer crisis care outside of these hours. I do not respond to messages, emails, or calls on weekends or evenings. In case of an emergency after hours or during the weekend, I recommend the following 24/7 resources:

  • Call the San Diego Access & Crisis Line at 888-724-7240

  • Call the Lifeline at 988 or text HOME to 741741

  • Domestic Violence: (888) 305-SAFE (7233)

I understand that this availability may not suit everyone’s needs, and I would be happy to provide referrals if you are looking for a therapist who can offer more immediate support.
